![]() ![]() The same setup used in the Kid's Dream was found to still be effective, although you may want to consider using the Razor Rounds upgrade (Bullets Ignore Armor) if the Lunkheads (frog like enemies) are giving you trouble. The Army Carbine was considered first, and ultimately proved too useful to not remain as one of my two weapon choices. Once again, ranged attacking is very important in this trial. Spirits Selection: Hearty Punch (+1 life), Leechade (Gain Health upon injuring foes), Bastion Bourbon (+2 potions), Bull Brandy (+15% defense), Squirt Cider (+10 HP), Cinderbrick Stout (+33% mobility while Defending), Dreadrum (+10% crit chance at full health), Lunkhead Liqueur (+100% damage on counter blocks), Black Rye (+2 Black Tonic Capacity), Graver Gimlet (+5% chance to turn Zealous after defeating an enemy) Singer's Dream Note that Werewhiskey and Lifewine were not selected, as they encourage risky gameplay, which is not particularly desirable. After most of the options were selected, some more offensive choices were made. Spirits were first selected that increased survivability. Upgrades: Burstone Bombs (+25% blast radius), Target System (+50% aiming speed), High-explosive Charges (+35% damage), Dampened Tubing (+15% critical Hit Chance), Stonewall Propellant (immunity to bomb damage).Īlthough not a big contributer to my success, I used the Trapper Snare Secret ability for this trial. It has the added bonus of still hitting most enemies that invoke the Garmuth idol (when foes deflect attacks randomly). This makes fast work of the previously mentioned gasfellas, along with other high health enemies. This weapon has a large area of effect, high damage, and, unlike the Calamity Cannon, locks onto enemies. So I started looking at the even higher damage weapons. In particular, this weapon struggles against the big blue Gasfellas (the ones that put holes into the arena). While the Army Carbine is pretty exceptional at destroying most enemies in this challenge, due to some of the upgrade choices made, it struggles against some of the larger ones. Upgrades: Speed Tuning (+30% mobility while aiming), Marksman Barrel (+50% aim speed), Insulated Chamber (35% Faster Reload), Combat Scope (+15% damage), Boomer Rounds (bullets cause area damage) Added damage, and area of effect upgrades round out the upgrades, and allow the Carbine to pack a much needed punch (not to mention, enabling it to do well against groups of enemies Weapon 1 - Army Carbine Luckily, the first three upgrades for the Carbine all give the opportunity to deal with these pitfalls. However, the name of the game in these challenges is speed of execution, and the stock Carbine is a hinderance to both your mobility and how quickly you can pull off a shot or two quickly. There are a number of ranged weapons in Bastion, but none reaches the range of the Army Carbine, which also packs quite a punch. I found that, overall, it lacked the punch I needed, but still possessed many desirable traits (Notably, relatively quick draw time, long distance damage, abusable power shot). At first, I considered the Breaker's Bow, being my mainstay weapon for my first playthrough. Kid's Dreamįor these challenges, I find that doing damage from far away is critical to your survivability. Note that being level 10, with fully upgraded weapons, while not required, is definitely recommended. With that said, I have completed the first two sequences, and my recommended load outs are listed below. While it is probably true that all sets are viable in vanilla Bastion (no idols), this is simply not true about the 10 idol challenges. Probably one of the most helpful things you can do is list the load out you used for any defeated sequence. This will be a good way to help fellow duders get into one of the top positions on the leaderboards, and not have to worry about losing their spot ever again. I thought it would be a good idea to amass some tips and tricks for beating each different sequence. I figure at least a few Giant Bombers are going to be (or already have) attempting some of the 10 idol challenges for Bastion. ![]()
